Exiting this course I am entering into a new space in my mind. In our first assignment of the artist statement I spoke of how much of a novice I was. Relatively I still am but I have come so far and learned so much this semester. I now have the confidence of an artist . This course has triggered things within me that I wish I had but wasn’t sure I did. I have never been the creative type but this class has allowed me to take ideas out of my head and expressed them through different forms of media. The Photoshop assignments were difficult but rewarding. They both took hours of tedious work but I felt I came up with something that was creative with my potato and something funny and introspective with the stamp. The photo assignment wasn’t my thing but I gave it a shot, and I did get my mantra from it. That being said my highlights of the semester was the trip to Museum of Moving images where I fell in love at first sight with the production studio. Being introduced to it enabled me to think that maybe I can do that someday. Maybe! A job that I could possibly enjoy, something I thought didn’t exist for me. Highlight two was the complete film making process. Our first film assignment of traffic kind of didn’t come out the way I envisioned but coupled with our second film assignment I learned the value of planning out the process which has a tangible effect on the work. Creating a story in my mind putting it down on a story board, casing locations, filming, editing and showing the film in lecture next to some really great work made my journey a bit more accomplished. I realize I’m still at the beginning but I have learned some of the qualities and hard work that it takes, while forming ideas of what I would actually want to do some day. I remember in class during artist statement critiques, someone said i should give my statement a name instead of the generic "artist statement." I felt as if I didnt earn it so I never changed, but on this exiting statement im naming it "i am here" ....... I enjoyed this class on many levels, I give it an A hopefully it will give me one as well. (or something close)

"I CAN DO THAT" .........MUSEUM OF MOVING IMAGES
I am an early media major student, so what I want to do exactly has not been clear to me but my recent trip to the Museum of Moving Image has made a few ideas come into focus. I "ABSOLUTLEY” loved the production studio. There they had a sports production studio. I have never seen one in person but when I did I felt something go off. The other exhibits were great, the audio visual, the artifacts and the video games, but the production studio was special. What I saw, were the many stories that I could create from a live event while having the responsibility to capture what is happening. By responsibility I mean letting the story tell itself but enhancing it with graphics, images and commentary when needed. I might be getting ahead of myself about directing a production but I would enjoy assisting in the process, and it doesn’t matter to me if it is a sporting event. I would actually prefer to be in a production studio of a talk show that deals with many topics and emotions, and different locations. The idea of having to do it live excites me because of the fast decision making and execution that is needed in that environment. I have always been fascinated by behind the scenes work but never considered studio production, this exhibit has made an impression on me that hopefully will lead to something more.
THE MASTERPIECE "RED BOOK"
so much to say about this. was fun and difficult. total team effort,Stephanie and I both came up with story but i was designated to creat shots and story board. the shots were not to include me but since this was a low budget film we couldnt afford Halle as second actor so i had to do it, because of that we had to divert from exact shots on story board but kept general idea by passing camera back and forth to film each other. after shooting, in class we layed out how we want the sequences to flow and from that point Stephanie led the editing process. cuts, music and graphics. it was a back and forth collaborative of ideas of editing but she executed the process.
FEDEX DESIGN
Choosing a graphic design that I found interesting was easy. Being a FedEx employee longer than I would like to admit, and finding its logo completely cool made it perfect for this assignment. What makes the design cool is the hidden image and its message, but I will get back to that. The obvious details of the design are that the typography is a bold san serif. Bold to standout and to give an effect of power. The colors of each abbreviation a blue Fed=federal and orange Ex=express were to separate the functions of the company. Its origin was shipping federal government deliveries overnight which was faster than any other company at the time. Now back to hidden image. Most people have to be told that there is a hidden arrow within the design and even with that knowledge it is still difficult to locate which makes it even more genius. The arrow is between the E and the X and is created when the two letters are connected in the design. The arrow represents that you and you shipment are pointed in the right direction if you choose to go with FedEx. How cool is that.

"RENGA" TRAFFIC VIDEO
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcYH77KOHYU
This is our Renga. The goal of our visual "poem" was to capture the flow of student traffic through Hunter .We set out to capture students journey from entering the school to exiting it, but along the way we filmed the process focusing on body parts from the bottom up, feet , legs , torso , full body , then thier backs as they left us.Message better conveyed if listened to silently.
